First steps to healthier living

Healthy Living
Healthy living may be easier than you think. With just a few small steps - more physical activity, some new ideas about food - you can make big changes, and we're here to help you.

Exercise should be enjoyable. It doesn't have to be a huge challenge. You just need a target - walking for half an hour, or exercising five times a week. Not everyone has to train for the London Marathon! You're unique, and we'll help you find what's most effective for you.

What's more, you can start right now. Create your own opportunities. Take the stairs instead of the lift. (Work on the fifteenth floor? Get out on the thirteenth and walk the rest.) Park at the opposite end of the car park so you walk a little further. Get off the bus a stop early. At work, don't email your colleagues - get over there and talk to them. It may not be miles, but it'll get you into the habit. That's your first step. And you're on your way to better health!

We're not big on telling you what to avoid, but there are some things that are bad for you, full stop:

  • an unhealthy or unbalanced diet
  • smoking
  • drinking too much alcohol
  • not doing any exercise

Each of these will raise your blood pressure and cholesterol levels, and make you more likely to be obese or get type 2 diabetes. And the more of those you suffer from, the higher your chance of heart disease.

At Wild About Fitness we can help you steer well clear of all these. Start the change by coming along to one of our friendly walking sessions today, and see how with just a few small steps you can make big changes to your health.
